Bhubaneswar: With the concern about the flood situation in Odisha, now the focus is on the river. The water flow in Mundli Barrage is estimated to touch about 8 lakh cusecs. The top engineer of the water resources department, Phillip Raut, has informed. Due to the risk of increased water flow in the river through Mundli from Sunday night, the floodplain area is being monitored.
According to the information of the top engineer, 7 lakh 83 thousand cusecs of water was flowing downstream in Mundli by 12:00 today. In the evening it can reach about 8 lakh cusecs. However, this is somewhat reassuring as the water flow in the river is expected to gradually decrease after evening.
Monitoring of 5 districts
Due to the increase in the water flow of the river, there is a risk of affecting especially the wet areas and agricultural lands of Cuttack, Khurda, Puri and Jagatsinghpur districts. Similarly, some areas of Patkura and Garadpur blocks of Kendrapara district may also be affected. The water level of various branches and canals of the river has also been monitored.
