Bhubaneswar: Political turmoil continues in the state regarding the MMDR Amendment Act, 2026. BJP state president Manmohan Samal has given a stern reply to the party while the BJ is constantly protesting against this law. As an opposition party, BJJ should behave responsibly and make proposals to the government, he said. In this situation, after the BJJ's movement and Manmohan Samal's response to the MMDR, the controversy in the state politics has intensified.
According to Manmohan, BJJ has protested on various policies and issues before. He claimed that the party protested even during the implementation of GST. He said that objections have already been raised on mining and revenue issues.
Manmohan said that the opposition expressed fear that Odisha would suffer due to the mining policy of the Center after 2014. However, he claimed that now the state is getting more revenue from the mining sector. Manmohan said that it is necessary to give specific calculations and data on such claims.
He opined that instead of BJJ agitation regarding the MMDR Amendment Act, we should have discussed what can be proposed to the government. According to him, a responsible opposition party must make specific proposals to the government on issues related to the state's interests.
