According to the Coast Guard, this operation is a major success against international drug smuggling by sea. Five Pakistani nationals on board have also been detained in this operation. On September 25, the suspect ship was spotted west of Lakshadweep.
After receiving the information, the Indian Coast Guard monitored the movement of the ship from sea and air. Later it was chased and searched west of Lakshadweep. A large amount of methamphetamine and heroin were found during the search.
The seized drugs, the ship and its crew members have been brought to Mumbai amid tight security. There, various agencies including Coast Guard, NCB, NIA, Gujarat ATS are jointly investigating and interrogating.
Investigations are on as to where such a huge quantity of drugs came from, where it was destined and what international drug network is behind it.
